Residency Award

Applications are being accepted for the 2019 cycle of the I*M Residency Award. The program offers the gift of creative solitude time and space to selected individuals working in any discipline.

The program strives to provide a respectful, comfortable and productive environment, freeing recipients from the pressures and distractions of daily life in the grid. As philosopher Henry David Thoreau wrote, “I went to the woods because I wished to live deliberately, to front only the essential facts of life, and see if I could not learn what it had to teach.”

The I*M Residency Award provides solitary retreat accommodations in a studio cabin, with uninterrupted time for one week each June. The 2019 residency provider is the Lucky Stars Observatory Retreat in the Laramie Foothills of Colorado. Lunch and dinners are prepared Sunday to Friday with ample provisions on hand for breakfasts and weekends. Lunch is delivered midday to individual cabin; a group dinner is hosted in the main building in the evening. All linens and towels are provided; cell phone service and wireless internet are only accessible in the main building. Award recipients are responsible for providing their own working materials and for their travel to and from the retreat center. There is no charge to the selected individual.
